Chando
does not let Chapla know that she is aware of her
sleeping with Jalad. A shattered Jalad curses himself
for his indiscretion. Chapla leaves for her Hostel.
A tentative Jalad approaches Chando, who tells him
that she is aware of the going-ons of the previous
night. Jalad profusely apologises and is full of
remorse for crossing the “Laxman Rekha”.
Chando takes it stoically, but later pines for her
dead mother and cries uncontrollably. She prays
to God to bless her with inner strength. Chando
gathers courage and tells Mani about the indiscretion
committed by Chapla and Jalad and that the only
option now is to get them married. Mani is shocked
beyond words.
