The
entire Mansion is awakened by Chando’s screams.
Mani and servants rush towards Chando’s room.
Chando on the other hand discovers an inebriated
Jalad cowering in a corner. She realizes that he
could get into trouble and runs out of her room,
mingling with the servants in order to give Jalad
an opportunity to hide. Chando convinces Mani that
she got scared because she thought she saw a shadow.
Mani insists on sleeping next to her. Chando pats
Mani to sleep and motions Jalad to sneak out of
the room, while his mother is asleep. Jalad sneaks
out. The next morning Chando takes Jalad his tea.
Jalad thanks her for saving his skin. He admits
that he drinks and is ready to defend his behaviour.
Chando lectures him about good habits. Mani tells
Chando that she knows that Jalad had entered her
room in a drunken state. Chando defends Jalad. Mani
tells Chando that Jalad keeps bad company and that
if anyone can set him straight, it would be her.
She informs Chando that up till some time back,
Jalad’s own best friend Dinesh took good care
of him and she didn’t have to worry at all.
Chando asks Mani as to who Dinesh is and Mani tells
her that Dinesh is Jalad’s childhood friend
but due to some misunderstanding their friendship
got strained and they stopped speaking to each other.
Chando
gathers information about Dinesh and makes a secret
plan to re-unite Jalad and Dinesh. She arrives at
Dinesh’s residence with Chaube and meets Dev
mama. Chando seeks his blessings in her effort to
bring Jalad and Dinesh together again. Mamaji warns
her that it is not going to be an easy task and
that Dinesh will never agree to go to the mansion
to have dinner with Jalad. Chando re-visits Dinesh’s
house and is greeted at the door by him. Dinesh
is mesmerized by Chando. It is clear that he is
attracted to her. Chando tries to convince Dinesh
to come home for a reunion dinner with Jalad at
the mansion. Dinesh refuses and tells Chando that
she has no idea how bad things are between him and
his friend. Chando says that everything can be sorted
out with a little effort. She insists that she will
call him later to know about his decision regarding
the matter. Later that day Dinesh paces the verandah
immersed in thought. Dev Mama tries to convice him
about going to the mansion. Dinesh refuses. Chando
calls Dinesh and convinces him in such a charming
manner that Dinesh is left dazed. It is evident
he has really fallen for the wise and charming Chandrika.
